CRS Points Explained
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system used by the Canadian government to assess and select candidates for immigration through the Express Entry program. The Express Entry system manages applications for three federal economic immigration programs:
-
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
-
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
-
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The CRS assigns points to candidates based on various factors, such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and other criteria. Here's a breakdown of the key factors and their maximum point values as of my last update in September 2021. Please note that the specific points and requirements may change over time, so it's essential to check the official government website for the most up-to-date information.

To calculate your CRS score, you need to determine how many points you are eligible to receive in each of these categories. Once you have your total points, you can enter the Express Entry pool. Candidates with the highest CRS scores are invited to apply for permanent residency during regular draws held by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
It's important to note that the CRS cut-off score in each draw varies depending on the number of candidates in the pool and the specific immigration targets set by the government. To find out the latest CRS cut-off scores and other Express Entry-related information, please visit the official IRCC website or consult with Ripanti Immigration Consulting. Additionally, as immigration policies and requirements can change over time, it's crucial to stay informed about the most recent updates and guidelines.
